Nepal is an emerging cricketing nation. Its players have challenged established teams, its supporters bring extraordinary passion, and businesses are increasingly backing the sport. The Nepal Premier League can bring these strengths together, laying the foundation for sustained international success. Nepal’s recent World Cup appearances have shown both its potential and the work ahead.
It pushed England close at the 2026 T20 World Cup and defeated Scotland, but heavy losses against Italy and West Indies exposed inconsistency. Sustaining its best cricket across a tournament remains the challenge. Nepal has a strong base to build upon. Sandeep Lamichhane’s leg-spin, Dipendra Singh Airee’s all-round ability, Rohit Paudel’s batting and Sompal Kami’s seam bowling give Nepal players who can shape international contests.
Airee and Kami were central to the victory over Scotland, showing what experienced players can achieve together. The emerging talent is equally encouraging.
