Kathmandu, Nov 4: The Tribhuvan University (TU) has recovered 705 ropani of land located within the Kathmandu Valley. The land legally belonged to the university but had long been occupied by various entities, organizations, and individuals.
The recovery campaign based primarily on the report of the TU Land Investigation Committee and the university’s internal records involved compiling an inventory of all university-owned land within the Kathmandu Valley that was under unauthorized occupation. Efforts were intensified to clear structures operating without authorization within a 35-day deadline and to bring areas with expired or unrenewed agreements back under the university’s direct control.
Thanks to the initiative of the Ministry and the active involvement of the TU administration, more than 705 ropanis of land were recovered within a short span of six months. According to Minister Pokharel, TU plans to utilize this reclaimed land for the construction of state-of-the-art laboratories, research centers, a central library, and other educational infrastructure.
