Overcoming Fear

I still remember how my hands were shaking, my heart was racing like it was trying to win a game, my mind was blank like a sheet of paper, and all I was seeing was the bright light above, making it hard for me to see the people who were around me, looking at me, talking, and shouting. I could not see them properly, but I was able to feel that crowd and feel how they were expecting something from me. I was standing on the stage in front of the audience, trying to say something.
I had spoken in front of a bunch of people before, but this was different, totally different. When I was told that I was selected for a speech competition while I was in my classroom just chilling with my friends, it felt like a sudden shock. I couldn't remember applying for a random speech competition that was held in my school.
For a moment, I thought it was some kind of joke. I was shocked to know that I was selected for a speech competition that I had never applied for. Later, when I started investigating, I found out that one of my friends mistakenly registered my name.
