The autobiography of renowned entrepreneur Shyam Mohan Shrestha astonishes readers and offers them profound inspiration. His solo overland journey from Kathmandu, crossing various countries to different parts of France, teaches us many lessons. No one knows everything about all places and contexts.
Curiosity, questioning, and the enthusiasm to contact teach us everything. Shyam Mohan did just that. The comment made by his younger brother, Mohan Krishna Shrestha, former Nepali Ambassador to France, feels largely true: "Leaving a well-paying casino job, embarking on an overland journey to a distant country like France, and returning home safely after seven months was a daring feat.
Later on, for my brother, getting to France became as simple as going to Asan to buy vegetables." Reading about his travels, one feels he possesses a rare capacity and charming personality to instantly keep a friendship with anyone, local or foreign. In 1970, a group of visitors from France came to Kathmandu. They took him sightseeing to Nagarkot.
