HYDERABAD The increasing migration to cities alongside working couples who live away from families created some gaps in care-giving for people in old age, toddlers and mothers and their newborns. The latter has led to a quiet rise in demand for japa care providers who take care of mothers and newborns, aid in recovery post delivery and prepare nutritious meals for six to seven weeks after delivery.

The first batch of 36 women bagged jobs with a monthly salary of ₹20,000 to take care of mothers and newborns in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
They were trained at Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) in taking care of newborns, aiding mothers in recovery, hygiene, preparation of nutritious post-natal diet, communication, customer relations and financial literacy.
