Congress wants names of illegal immigrants, duplicate voters to remain in electoral rolls: MP

MANGALURU Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya said on Friday that the Congress is opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls as it wants illegal immigrants and duplicate voters to remain as voters in the country. Speaking at the end of a padayatra organised by the BJP as part of its nation-wide ‘save democracy, eliminate anarchy’ campaign, Mr. Surya said that even after the Supreme Court ruled thrice that SIR is a constitutional process the Congress is trying to create an anarchy in the country by taking up a false propaganda against it.

The MP said that the Congress finds no fault in EVMs when it wins Assembly elections in Karnataka, Telangana, and Keralam. “The Congress makes a hue and cry that EVMs are hacked only when it loses Assembly elections in States,” he said. Mr.

Surya said that of 12 SIRs done in the country, 11 were done when the Congress was in power. “The SIR process remains the same now and then. But, for the Congress, electoral rolls revised during its administration was Constitutional in nature.
