French skipper wins Route du Rhum

French sailor Tom Laperche has won the Route du Rhum, setting a new record in the transatlantic yacht race.

The 29-year-old crossed the finish line in Guadeloupe on his first attempt, beating the previous 2022 record by around six hours.
