Madurai AIADMK functionary and former Madurai Corporation Deputy Mayor, P.M. Mannan, was let off by Madurai City Police, after interrogating him in connection with “horse-trading bid” case for the second consecutive day on Saturday afternoon. Mannan, who appeared at the CCB office at 10 a.m., was questioned for more than four hours and was later let off.
After coming out, he told reporters that he was ready to legally face the politically-motivated case. He also said that he was ready to cooperate with the police for further investigation. However, he refused to answer any of the questions posed by the newsmen relating to the case.
Mannan was formally arrested on Friday after a prolonged interrogation by the Central Crime Branch after TVK MLA, V.M.S. Mustafa, lodged a complaint on Thursday that he was offered ₹15 crore to vote against the TVK Government in a no-confidence motion. However, the court refused to remand him in judicial custody and directed Mannan to appear before the CCB on Saturday.
