Golf: Bhullar takes sole lead after rain-affected second round

VISAKHAPATNAM: The weather continued to pose a challenge, but Gaganjeet Bhullar handled the conditions best. The 38-year-old remained calm and composed to retain top position after a six-under 44 in the second round of the Maritime Invitational 2026, part of the Indian Golf Premier League Tour, here on Wednesday. Due to incessant rain, the round was shortened to 14 holes and the total par for the day was 50.

Bhullar, who has carded a nine-under total over 32 holes, has opened up a six-shot lead over the quartet of Sachin Baisoya, Tushar Pannu, Deepak Yadav and Ravi Kumar. Bhullar is aiming for back-to-back victories and a third win this season, repeating his feat of 2025. He will create history if he achieves the feat, as no other player has recorded more than two wins in the IGPL.

He is also seeking to take his overall tally to six titles. The second round was delayed by more than two hours following overnight rain, which played havoc on the course and left some holes unfit for play. (The writer is in Visakhapatnam at the invitation of Indian Golf Premier League)
