108 service keeps 99 ambulances ready in Coimbatore, Nilgiris for Deepavali

Coimbatore The 108 Emergency Ambulance Service has kept 99 ambulances ready in Coimbatore and the Nilgiris districts to handle medical emergencies during the Deepavali festival. Of these, 62 ambulances are in Coimbatore district and 37 in the Nilgiris. Additional backup ambulances have also been kept ready to ensure uninterrupted services in case of vehicle breakdowns.

All ambulances have been inspected, and their emergency medical equipment, essential medicines and oxygen cylinders checked. Special burns emergency kits have also been provided to enable ambulance personnel to administer immediate first aid to victims of firecracker-related injuries. The ambulances have been stationed at crowded locations, major public gathering points and identified emergency hotspots to ensure quick response.

Special attention will be given to firecracker-related burns, road accidents, fire accidents and other medical emergencies. The Joint Director of Health Services, Sumathi, has instructed all government hospitals to remain on high alert during the festival.
