Nepal Police’s Cyber Bureau has summoned Ajaya Babu Shiwakoti, joint general secretary of the Nepali Congress, for questioning. Shiwakoti, who is currently on a religious pilgrimage outside Kathmandu, was asked by phone to report to the bureau. He said he would return to the capital and cooperate with the authorities.
In a social media post on Thursday morning, he accused the Balendra Shah government of trying to rule through fear and intimidation, saying he would not be deterred. He also said there was no need for police to look for him as he was already on his way back to Kathmandu. “Your attempts to intimidate me and spread fear and confusion will not deter me.
There is no need to send the police looking for me. I am on my way to Kathmandu,” he wrote. In recent days, Shiwakoti has used social media to accuse the government of bypassing established procedures and seeking to embroil the Nepali Congress in unnecessary controversy.
