Bombay, November 5: Britain and India could collaborate in many industrial fields particularly off-shore oil drilling and electronics, Sir Ralph Bateman, leader of the British industrial co-operation mission, told pressmen here on Wednesday. Britain’s expert management and sound technology would match well with Indian administrative and technical skill. The two countries could help each other by matching their high level attainments in various fields of industrial activity in the interests of both the countries.
Sir Ralph said just because British’s financial conditions were not rosy, one should not jump to the conclusion that it would not be in a position to help others. All the developed countries tend to work together and they tried to co-operate with each other in the advancement of industrial progress. Sir Ralph said in reply to a question that troubles in U.K.
were mainly political and not industrial. He wanted the public expenditure in his country to be cut. They were spending too much on many heads and this should be stopped.
